Ayara Hernandez and Felix Marchand founded Lupita Pulpo in 2000.
Lupita Pulpo has the aim to work in collaboration.
The core of this collaboration is to create links between the people and their countries by exchanging experiences and knowledge, which can lead into a creation. Thereby one of the main focuses is to put the work in a contemporary context. Questioning, listening, giving space and dialoguing are main issues in the meetings.
“To see, to listen, to catch, and to make it yours. Time for questions, time for digestion.
Space for experiment, for trying out. Emotions keep you going, the excitement to work to see your creation on stage, materialised. To work with people is a work full of surprises, makes you open and aware.
To sit with your friends and discuss ideas, going further going deeper going wider. Creating pieces in your mind and to feel this energy, this power, and some ideas land in the memory file and some in the garbage.
But the pool of ideas is huge in the beginning; it is in your brain in your body. Finding ways of letting them out...
One idea crystals, you grab one idea, one concept, from that point on the engine is running, the process, which is 50% creation and 50 % organisation.
Finding dancers getting your rehearsals clear finding your methods of creation, how to create material and how to translate it to the dancers, and in the end the biggest task is making choices. All the time to let go and to choose one direction and from there again choosing.
In the beginning you are on a highway and then you take an exit until you find your house, going inside until you are in the space where you want to be.
And then everything is over in 15 minutes. There is the applause you have a drink and in your mind you already start a new product.”
